Harmonized Index of consumer prices increased

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 8.1% in 2022, compared to 2021. In December 2022, HICP rose by 7.6%, compared to the same month of 2021, noting a decrease of 0.8% when compared to November 2022.

For the period January - December 2022, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest changes were noted in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, which increased by 21.5% and Transport by 14.2%.

Compared to December 2021, on December 2022 the largest changes were noted in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels increased in 17.2% and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages increased by 12.6%.

Compared to November 2022, the largest change was recorded in category Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, which decreased by 2.9%.

As regards the economic origin, the largest change when compared both to the index of December 2021 and to the index of the previous month, was monitored in category Energy with percentages of 19.3% and -3.3% respectively.
