The Harmonized Price Index increased by 0.5% in August, compared to August 2016, the Statistical Service reported on Tuesday.
The Index recorded a monthly increase of 1.0% compared to July 2017, Cystat said.
For the period January-August 2017 the HICP increased by 1.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Compared to August 2016, the categories with the largest positive change where housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (4.7%) and transport (4.5%) whereas alcoholic beverages, tobacco (-3.3%) had the biggest negative change.
In comparison to HICP of July 2017, the categories with the largest increase were transport (2.5%) and restaurant and hotels (2.4%).
The largest annual change for the period January – August was noted in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (8.2%).
As regards to the economic origin, the largest change was observed in energy with an increase of 6.0%, compared to the index of August 2016.
