Inflation up by 0.3% in first six months

Inflation was up by 0.3% in Cyprus in the first six months of the year, compared to the same period last year, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service showed on Thursday.
 
“In June 2018, the Consumer Price Index increased by 0,53 units to 101,49 units compared to 100,96 units in May 2018. Compared to June 2017, the CPI is increased by 2.3% while for the period January - June 2018, the CPI is increased by 0.3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year” Cystat reported.
 
In the twelve-month period from July 2017 to June 2018, in comparison to the period from July 2016 to June 2017, the annual average rate of change of the CPI remained stable. The corresponding annual average rate of change of the CPI in the previous twelve - month period was 0.3%.
 
The largest change was recorded in petroleum products with an increase of 11.0% compared to the index of June 2017, while electricity registered an increase of 5.6% compared to the previous month.
