Prices dive 2.4%

Prices in Cyprus decreased faster in June compared to May 2015.

Prices have been declining for two years now, since July 2013.

According to the figures, inflation in Cyprus in the sixth month of the year stood at -2.42% from -1.99% in May 2015 and -1.19% in June 2014.

The largest decline in prices is registered in the housing, water supply, electricity and gas sector and the transport sector.

The housing, water supply, electricity and gas sector decreased by 9.17% against a decline of 9.08% in the previous month.

Prices in the transport sector dropped by 2.89% compared with a decline of 4.50% in the previous month.

Transport is followed by the sector of food and non-alcoholic drinks where prices fell by 2.74% against an increase of 0.15% in the previous month.
Prices in clothing and footwear fell by 1.24% against a decline of 0.68% in the previous month.

Similarly, prices in the sector of furnishing, household equipment and cleaning products fell by 0.51% against an increase of 0.14% in the previous month.

For the period January – June 2015, the Index recorded a drop of 1.85% compared to the corresponding period of 2014.
