Cyprus President Nikos Anastasiades is visiting Great Britain next week and will be received by King Charles at Balmoral Castle on Monday, a statement by the Head off his press office Andreas Iosif says.

Iosif describes the meeting as important during which the President will brief King Charles about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and Turkey's provocations in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Bilateral relations, climate crisis and energy crisis, following Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, will also be on the agenda.

The meeting is set to take place at 10:30 am UK time.

This is the first meeting President Anastasiades will hold with King Charles, after he became King, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

On Wednesday President Anastasiades received at the Presidential Palace Princess Anna, who paid a visit to Cyprus.

On Saturday Cyprus President will attend a Gala Dinner on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus, during which he will be honored by the UK Cypriot Federation and the all -party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus in the Parliament.

The Dinner will highlight the significant contribution of Cypriot Diaspora to the strengthening of bilateral relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom as well as to the promotion of the Cyprus issue.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results.

The latest round of negotiations, in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively.
