President Anastasiades meets with foreign leaders

Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, will have on Tuesday a series of meetings with foreign leaders, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
 
Anastasiades will attend the official opening of the 73rd General Assembly Session and will listen to the speeches to be delivered by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, and the US President, Donald Trump.
 
He will also have bilateral meetings with the King of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, the President of Albania Ilir Meta, the Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and the Foreign Miniter of Russia Sergey Lavrov.
 
The President will attend a lunch hosted by the UN Secretary General for the heads of delegations attending the 73rd General Assembly Session and will have a meeting with the leadership of the American Jewish Committee.
 
Anastasiades attended on Monday the high-level meeting hosted by the US President entitled “Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem."
 
Moreover, he attended the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit organised by the UNSG.
 
He also had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, with whom he discussed bilateral issues and the excellent relations between Cyprus and Armenia.
 
According to a government source the two leaders expressed their support to the principled positions regarding respect of the Madrid Principles, that is to the right of self-determination and respect of territorial integrity.
 
Moreover, they discussed about the support Cyprus is seeking to deal with Turkey’s destabilizing moves. Anastasiades and Pashinyan also discussed about the forthcoming Trilateral Meeting among Cyprus, Greece and Armenia.
 
President Anastasiades and his spouse Andri attended the reception hosted by the US Prseident and First Lady, Donald and Melania Trump, for the heads of delegation attending the the 73rd General Assembly Session.
 
Anastasiades met Archbishop of America Demetrios as well.
