President appoints interim Greek Cypriot member of the CMP

President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades appointed Nicos Theodosiou an the interim Greek Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons In Cyprus (CMP), the Cyprus Presidency announced today.

Theodosiou succeeds Nestoras Nestoros whose term as the G/c member of the CMP has ended.

Since October 2015, Theodosiou served as an associate to the office of the Greek Cypriot member of the CMP and was the President of the Pancyprian Organisation of the Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons from 1994 to 2012 and Director of the Office of the Missing Persons Organisation from 2012 to 2015.

The President expressed warm gratitude to Nestoros for “his contribution to the humanitarian issue of the missing persons.

The CMP was established in April 1981 by agreement between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities under the auspices of the United Nations and is mandated to look only into cases of persons reported missing in the inter-communal fightings as well as the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
