President Christodoulides asks members of Cabinet to present their priorities

Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, asked from the members of his Cabinet, during the first meeting of the body held on Wednesday, to present their priorities within the next days, as well as their programme and action plan on policy issues.

According to information, Christodoulides asked from the Ministers to prepare for the meetings of the Cabinet because he wants them to express their positions on all the issues which are on the agenda and not just the ones that concern their portfolios.

Moreover, he asked for his Governance Program to the implemented and also from the members of the Cabinet to present their priorities within the next days.

President also stressed to the Ministers that decisions should not only be taken but should also be implemented, adding that to this end there will be a mechanism that will monitor the implementation and will coordinate the government's work.

Furthermore, Christodoulides called on the Ministers and Deputy Ministers to present their program and action plan on policy issue before the Council of Ministers.

The President asked for the maximum cooperation with the House of Representatives, the Presidents and the members of the parliamentary committees, as well as with all the relevant social partners that are associated with the various activities of the ministries.

Moreover, he asked from the members of the Cabinet to begin preparing for the 2026 EU Cypriot Presidency and explained that they must participate in all the meetings of the EU Councils of Ministers and develop links with all the EU competent institutions and instruments, but mainly with the European Commission.

During the meeting a decision was taken about which Minister will be the substitute of each Minister, when he or she will be absent.
