The latest report of newspaper “Politis” according to which the daughter of the Central Bank Governor, Christodoulos Christodoulou has a stake of 44% in a company that offers seminars to bank clerks has aroused strong feelings on the Governor.

In a written statement, Mr. Christodoulou rejected the newspaper allegations that there is an issue of ethics from his daughter’s participation in the Institute of Banking Studies, stating that he has nothing to do with his daughter’s professional activities. “Any groundless allegations and assumptions that aim at associating me with the professional activities of my daughter are poor inventions”, the statement reported.

Mr. Christodoulou also denied the newspaper allegations that he has pushed the Chairman of ETYK to recognize the degree of the American Institute of Banking offered by IBS. “It is a lie and a terrible libel”, the Central Bank Governor said.

Mr. Christodoulou associated the report with his statements on Friday, when he criticized those who contribute to the development of the G/C properties in the occupied territories as well as his negative attitude to the Annan Plan.

Invited to comment on the report of newspaper “Politis”, ETYK Chairman, Michalis Erotocritou said that there was no intervention on behalf of the CB Governor. “Our Association accepted the request of the bank clerks’ trade union and allowed the company to offer seminars”.

Meanwhile, an ETYK representative told StockWatch that there was no intervention on behalf of Mr. Christodoulou on the issue. “ETYK asked the company to offer seminars to the bank clerks since these are carried out in the Greek language and serve their efforts”, he concluded.
