Cabinet gives green light for new back up air traffic control system

The Council of Ministers approved on Wednesday the purchase of a new back-up air traffic control system, to replace the existing obsolete system at the Flight Control Center at the Acropolis area in Nicosia.

Speaking after the Cabinet meeting, which convened on Wednesday under President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades, Deputy Government Spokeswoman Klelia Vasiliou said that the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, through the Civil Aviation Department, was authorized to proceed with all relevant actions for the purchase of the new back up traffic control system (Watchkeeper, TopSky).

In addition, the Cabinet approved a bill regarding the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Government of the Russian Federation for cooperation in the field of Information and Communications Technologies.

The Council of Ministers also approved an amendment of the law regarding Antiquities, thus allowing now the entry of disabled persons with a European Card and their escorts free of charge in all the places and monuments that are included in the list of the Antiquities law.
