Cyprus and Greece to enhance cooperation in shipping

Cyprus and Greece have expressed willingness to further enhance their cooperation in shipping, during a recent meeting Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Ioannis Plakiotakis had with Cyprus Shipping Chamber President Philippos Philis and the chamber’s Director General Thomas Kazakos.

Their meeting took place on the occasion of Plakiotakis` visit to Cyprus for the “Maritime Cyprus 2019” Conference in Limassol, a Cyprus Shipping Chamber press release says.
 
During the meeting, "various shipping policy issues that affect both countries as well as the economic and business cooperation between Cyprus and Greece on shipping related matters were discussed, emphasizing on opportunities for further growth and competitiveness of the Shipping Industry and the protection of the Shipping interests of both countries," the press release adds.
 
The meeting, it continues, provided a unique opportunity for the newly appointed Greek Shipping Minister, to be informed of the huge amplitude and the significant infrastructure of the shipping industry in Cyprus.

"Both parties expressed their mutual willingness to maintain and further enhance the close cooperation between the Greek Shipping Ministry and the Cyprus shipping industry," the press release concludes.
