Deputy Minister for Shipping to participate in European Maritime Transport Environmental Report meeting

Deputy Minister for Shipping, Vasilis Demetriades, departs today for Lisbon, where he will participate in the presentation of the first European Maritime Transport Environmental Report.

According to a press release by the Deputy Ministry, Demetriades is invited by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and the European Environment Agency (EEA) to participate in the meeting entitled Green Shipping Agenda.

President of Portugal, EU Transport Commissioner, EU Environment Commissioner and President of the European Parliament`s Transport and Tourism Committee will address the conference.

In a statement, the Deputy Minister notes that Cyprus` participation in the conference is an opportunity to promote the positions of Cyprus in relation to the green transformation of shipping as well as the actions and initiatives of Cyprus in this direction.

On the sidelines of the conference, Demetriades will visit the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) where he will hold a series of meetings focusing on further enhancing the cooperation between Cyprus and the EMSA.
