Registration of saloon cars decreases by 17.9%

Total registrations of motor vehicles decreased by 16.9% to 3,431 in January 2021, from 4,129 in January 2020, the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus announced on Monday.

According to the "Registration of Motor Vehicles" report for the month of January 2021, passenger saloon cars decreased to 2,751 from 3,352 in January 2020, recording a fall of 17.9%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 856 or 31.1% were new and 1,895 or 68.9% were used cars.

Moreover, goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 27.8% to 364 in January 2021, compared to 504 in January 2020. In particular, light goods vehicles decreased by 33.4% to 301 and heavy goods vehicles by 2.4% to 40, while road tractors (units of trailers) increased by 109.1% to 23.

Mopeds < 50cc increased from 11 in January 2020 to 14 in January 2021.

Finally, motorcycles > 50cc increased to 258 in January 2021, compared to 222 in January 2020, recording an increase of 16.2%.
