Christoforou against PASIXE

08/07/2003 12:48
Chairman of the House Commerce Committee, Lefteris Christoforou, criticized strongly the Hotel Owners’ Association (PASIXE) on Tuesday for the latter’s decision not to sign the union contract with the trade unions and the Labour Ministry. Mr. Christoforou has characterized PASIXE’s stance as frivolous, irresponsible, unacceptable and dangerous.

“PASIXE’s stance has already caused incalculable damage to the image of the Cyprus tourism abroad. It seems that the Association is interested neither to tourism nor to the island’s economy. It keeps neglecting the government and the parliament but it has no right to neglect the interest of the Cyprus citizens”, Mr. Christoforou noted.

Mr. Christoforou has appealed to PASIXE’s leadership to rise to the occasion and urged the hotel owners not to adopt the same stance and sign the union contract.
