Cyprus Deputy Minister for Tourism Savvas Perdios and Egyptian Minister for Tourism Rania al Mashat decided to step up their cooperation in the field of tourism.

Perdios met with Mashat on Monday in Cairo.

The two officials have laid the groundwork for joint tourist packages which could bring the countries closer through tourism.

In statements to the press, Perdios said he discussed with the Egyptian Minister the possibility of holding tourist cruises between the two countries as well as their air connection, issues which are progressing or are on good track, he said.

“Cyprus and Egypt could do a lot together in the field of tourism, in the context of our cooperation in joint programmes, promoting our countries to the benefit of our two peoples,” he said.

On her part, Al Mashat told CNA that “the two countries share great history but what’s more important is the two countries share a very important future.”

She also referred to the great importance of the Summits between Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, noting that tourism receives huge importance both in Egypt and in Cyprus.

Describing Perdios’ visit in Cairo as particularly important, Al Mashat expressed hope that the issues discussed today will progress, contributing to the further strengthening of the tourist ties among the two countries and the two peoples.
