Deputy Minister for Tourism satisfied over his contacts in China and Dubai

Deputy Minister for Tourism Savvas Perdios held contacts with Tourist Organizations in China and Dubai, n the context of the Ministry’s main objectives to attract tourist flows from distant destinations and the counties of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East which are considered suitable for short-term holidays to Cyprus.
 
According to a press release issued by the Deputy Ministry, Perdios said he was absolutely satisfied with the results of the contacts both in China and Dubai.

The contacts in China focused on ways to achieve closer cooperation between the two counties in the field of Tourism, with the Deputy Minister ascertaining that the preconditions for the upgrading of the tourist ties are in place, as there is will and firm interest from both sides.

Concerning direct flights between the two countries, which would help boost tourist flows from China, the Deputy Minister noted that while this issue will take time, there are ways of attracting Chinese tourists in Cyprus as part of their holidays to neighbouring countries which have direct flights to and from China.
 
Following his contacts in China, the Deputy Minister traveled to Dubai for the tourist exhibition titled "Arabian Travel Market," where he met with significant Tour Operators and representatives of major air carriers of the Gulf and the wider region.
 
During his contacts, Perdios exchanged views and discussed ways of closer cooperation towards strengthening tourist ties and attracting of larger inbound tourist flows from the region.
 
Perdios said that the markets of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf present prospects for further growth in tourist flows from the two regions, adding that the efforts aiming at attracting tourist inflows from these markets will intensify in collaboration with all Cypriot tourist stakeholders.
 
Furthermore, in the context of promoting the Ministry’s strategic targets, visits were carried out in Israel, Lebanon and Jordan, while contacts in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrein are being scheduled.
