June tourist revenues rose

Revenue from tourism reached €259,8 mn in June 2013 compared to €254,5 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 2,1%, on the basis of the results of a Passenger Survey conducted by Cyprus’ Statistical Service.

This is the first increase in revenue from tourism, after the decline recorded in the previous two months (April and May) by 3.7% and 5.7%, respectively.

According to available data, during the first half of 2013, revenue from tourism fell 1.06%, to € 671 million from € 678,2 mn in the corresponding period of 2012.

The average period of stay increased in June 2013 to 10.1 days compared to 9.5 days in the corresponding month of 2012.

The expenditure per person in June 2013 increased to 843 euros compared to 771,1 euros in June 2012. The expenditure per day increased in June 2013 to 83.3 euro from 81.5 euros in June 2012.

Tourists from Switzerland had the highest per person expenditure to 1,120.2 euros, followed by tourists from Russia with 972.8 euros and tourist from Austria with 951.9 euros.

Tourists from Denmark with 472.6 euros, from Greece with 511.4 and euros from Sweden with 594.1 euros, had the lowest per day expenditure.
