Revenue from tourism down by 1.1%

Revenue from tourism for the period of January – October 2019 declined by an annual 1.1% recording the first annual drop for the 10-month period since 2014, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) on Friday.

The expenditure per person for the January – October 2019 period reached €685.22 compared to €697.54 in the corresponding period of 2018, recording a decrease of 1.8%, while per person daily spending for the January – October 2019 period dropped by 0.4% compared to the same period in 2018 (from €75.82 to €76.14), Cysta added.
 
For October, revenue from tourism rose by an annual 1.9% reaching 299.4 million compared to €293.8 mn in October of last year.
 
Spending per person for October 2019 reached €685.82 compared to €677.60 in the respective moth of last year recording an increase of 1.2%. The per person daily spending for October 2019 compared to October 2018 also recorded an increase of 1.2% (from €76,13 to €77,06), Cystat added.
 
The average length of stay remained the same as last year, that is, 8.9 days.
