Revenue from tourism down 5.5% in February

Revenue from tourism reached €49.5 mn in February 2020 compared to €52.4 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 5.5%, on the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey.

As the Statistical Service of Cyprus announced, for the period of January – February 2020 revenue from tourism is estimated at €89.7 mn compared to €92.0 mn in the corresponding period of 2019, recording a decrease of 2.5%.

The expenditure per person for February 2020 reached €468.72 compared to €496.81 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 5.7%. The expenditure per person/per day for February 2020 compared to February 2019 recorded an increase of 7.3% (from €59.86 to €64.21). A decrease of 12.0% was also recorded in the average length of stay, from 8.3 days in February 2019 to 7.3 days in February 2020.

The expenditure per person for the period of January – February 2020 reached €469.28 compared to €490.89 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 4.4%. The expenditure per person/per day for the period of January – February 2020 compared to the period of January – February 2019 recorded an increase of 5.4% (from €57.08 to €60.16).
