Tourism: July revenues drop by 16%

According to Statistical Service’s data, tourism revenues on July have experienced a considerable decline of 16.3%, more than the equivalent decline in tourist arrivals (12.3%).

According to Service’s estimates, revenues on July dropped to CYP 161 million, compared to last July’s CYP 192 million.

During the first seven months of 2002, revenues suffered significant losses of 11.1% reaching CYP 606 million (compared to last year’s same period). The aforementioned data confirm that official estimates were too optimistic.

One fourth of Cyprus GNP consists of tourism revenues.
