Tourist arrivals rise by 65.6% year on year in February

Tourist arrivals in February amounted to 119,081 marking an increase of 65.6% year on year, the Statistical Office of Cyprus (Cystat) has said.

Furthermore, the arrivals of February, as well as January this year surpassed the arrivals of the respective months of 2019, which recorded a historic high in Cyprus with regard to tourist arrivals.

For the period of January – February 2023, arrivals of tourists totaled 209,630 compared to 115,865 in the corresponding period of 2022, recording an increase of 80.9%, Cystat added.

Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for February 2023, with a share of 27.2% (32,394) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 12.8% (15,196), Greece with 12.6% (15,058),

Poland with 9.8% (11,728) and Germany with 5.1% (6,107).

Furthermore, trips of Cypriot residents abroad rose by 146.4% year on year in February 2023.

According to Cystat, a total number of 102,001 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in February 2023 compared to 41,399 in the corresponding month of last year.

The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in February 2023 were Greece with a share of 34.7% (35,351), the United Kingdom with 11.7% (11,969), Bulgaria with 4.3% (4,408) and Germany with 4.1% (4,207).
