Travelling abroad increased in March 2015 maintaining the positive note in Cypriots’ travelling for a seventh consecutive month.
According to the Passengers Survey, 82.418 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in March 2015 compared to 80.656 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 2,2%
Trips to and from Greece which is the main tourist destination for Cypriots, increased by 22.9%, reaching 29.387 in March 2015 from 23.906 in March 2014.
Trips to Germany also increased reaching 3.205, up by 6.5%.
On the other hand, trips to the United Kingdom and Russia recorded a significant fall.
Travelling to the UK dropped by 20.5% to 17.979 from 22.601 in March last year while traveling to Russia fell by 9.3% to 3.474.
Trips to and from France were reduced by 34.5% to 951.
Trips to Romania and Bulgaria also increased, rising by 13.3% and 2.3% respectively.
In January - March 2015, residents traveling abroad amounted to 236.9 thousand compared to 223.8 thousand in the period January - March 2014, recording an increase of 5.9%.
