Bill on Z cars to plenary

29/03/2012 12:56
The bill regulating the car rental services and their harmonization with the EU directive, which provides for the liberalization of the Z cars market and the abolition of the quantitative restrictions, will be led to the plenary next Thursday.

With the new bill, the minimum number of vehicles per car company will be 15 while the age of the cars to be registered as Z should not exceed 30 months. Also, all Z cars exceeding 7 years will be withdrawn.

At the same time, the bill provides for the removal of distortion of competition, since for every Z car license the interested company must pay €1500.

“We believe that the introduction of this provision is correct since of the 10 thousand cars registered today, 55% has been purchased and since we wanted equal terms of competition, we introduced the right to lift distortion of competition”, Chairman of House Communications Committee, Antonis Antoniou stated.

“The state will cease granting free Z licenses, while businessmen will be able to resell at the price of €1500”, he concluded.
