The imposition of tax on deposits is unacceptable, DIKO MP, Athena Kyriakidou told The Times.

As commented in the newspaper, Mrs. Kyriakidou said she will vote against any plan of "raid" of the bank deposits, threatening to "plunge" the full bailout package.

The MP of the Democratic Party plans to submit a proposal for the taxation of deposits in Cypriot banks operating in other European countries, "instead of punishing those who kept their money in the country”.

Speaking to BBC Radio, Britain’s former Finance Minister, Alistair Darling, stated that Europeans did exactly what they shouldn’t have in the case of Cyprus.
