Cyprus` House of Representatives plenary will debate the state budget for 2021 on Thursday, January 21, instead of on Monday January 18 as originally planned, according to a decision taken during a meeting of the leaders and representatives of parliamentary groups chaired by House Speaker Adamos Adamou, on Thursday.

Reliable sources have told CNA that the decision was taken to allow parliamentary parties enough time to draft any amendments and proposals they may wish to table on the revised budget which will be initially discussed during a meeting of the parliamentary committee of financial and budgetary affairs this Friday.

The same sources said that following a telephone communication Adamou had with Finance Minister Constantinos Petrides, he agreed with the change in the budget discussion debate.

During the debate which will take place on Thursday, January 21, at 1600 hours local time, there will be interventions by one MP from every parliamentary party.

The House of Representatives plenary rejected the state budget for 2021 on December 17 last year.
