Semi-governmental federation warns with strikes

The Federation of Semi-Governmental Organizations of OHO-SEK warned with strikes if the government promotes the approval of the second package of fiscal consolidation measures, which includes the freezing of COLA and the cut of the 13th salary.

The Executive Committee of the Federation authorized the OHO leaders to react if the House of Representatives approves unilaterally draft laws that hit the interests of its members.

According to General Secretary, Nicos Tampas, the members of the Executive Committee urged SEK’s leadership to interrupt the deliberations with the Finance Ministry in relation to COLA and the 13th salary.

Meanwhile, SIDIKEK-PEO has not taken any decision yet since its General Secretary, Antonis Neophytou is waiting for the finalization of the deliberations with the Minister.

Families with many children react

The families with many children threatened with strike measures too. Their leaders had a meeting with the Finance Minister earlier today.

After his meeting with Mr. Kazamias, Chairman of the Pancyprian Organization of the Families with Many Children, Paraskevas Samaras stated that if the government cuts their benefits, it will cause turmoil.

Student organizations

After the meeting of POFEN with the Finance Minister, its Chairman, Yiangos Zenonos clarified that the students will not accept any measure affecting them.

“The students will not accept the drop in the newcomers’ scale in the public sector and the targeting of the student benefit”, he said.

PASYDY

PASYDY, which will meet on Monday to take the final decision son the measures, made clear that it will not accept the freezing of COLA for two years.

On Monday, OEB and CCCI will be informed by the Finance Minister on the content of the second package of measures.

SEPAIK

The scientific staff of EAC also reacts to the proposed measures of the second package.

They will join the other unions of the semi-governmental sector in their struggle against the proposals.

SEPAIK Deputy General Secretary, Savvas Pelentritis said yesterday that they will not accept either the freezing of COLA for two years or the cut of the 13th salary and urged the government to turn to other groups of population.
