CYP 7 mln to CTO: Is it a waste?

…says Parliament

The Cyprus Tourist Organization is expected to submit further details over the government’s grant of CYP 7 million for the strengthening and promotion of the island’s tourism, since several members of the House Finance Committee - Aristos Chrisostomou (DIKO), Stavros Evagorou (AKEL), Marinos Sizopoulos (KISOS), Giorgos Perdikis (Ecologists) and Panayiotis Demetriou (DISY) - have expressed their concerns over the specific bill (to be set under approval on Thursday) as hopes for a short war in Iraq diminish.

Meanwhile, DISY MP Panayiotis Demetriou has requested an informative note on behalf of the CTO but stressed that due to the gravity of the current situation any reservations may be included in the Committee’s proposal.

It is noted that following the launch of the US attack in Iraq, the Council of Ministers has decided to grant CYP 7,000,000 to the CTO to strengthen and promote the island’s tourism.
