A list of six thousand legal and natural persons that withdrew their deposits from Cyprus in the first fifteen days of March has been forwarded to the House Institutions Committee.

The envelope with the list was opened this morning in a closed session by the Chairman of the House Institutions Committee, Demetris Syllouris.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Committee expressed frustration and anger because the CB did not send all information requested by the Committee.

According to Mr. Syllouris, the Committee requested information about deposit outflows over the last year.

The CB said in its letter that the amount of information is enormous and requested the reformulation of the request for information.

It is uncertain whether the request of the Parliament is compatible with the banking secrecy.

Mr. Syllouris said that the letter sent to the Committee confirmed that when the decision for the support of CPB of €1.8 billion was taken was taken, the bank’s newsletter on the amount of ELA to the bank was not sent to the Parliament.

Mr. Syllouris also indicated that the list will be discussed at the meeting of the party leaders or representatives and next Thursday the CB Governor and Deputy Governor will be called to provide explanations before the Institution Committee.

He also said that there are outflows of many millions and doubted whether the CB sent all the names.

He emphasized that on Thursday the Committee will determine the process of control and will possibly need technocratic help.

On his part, DISY MP Andreas Kyprianou expressed discontent because the Parliament was not informed about the amount of ELA during the passing of the law on CPB’s enhancement.

Mr. Kyprianou expressed his discontent for not sending all the data.

However, in the letter of the Deputy Governor it was noted that they send the data of the first 15 days of March because the collection of a huge amount of information that will end up to the committee may not serve the purposes of the investigation.

It is also stated that the investigation of A & M and the due diligence of Pimco were sent to the Parliament adding that after the decision of the Eurogroup Pimco’s report must not be published until the signing of the memorandum urging MPs to handle it as strictly confidential.

It is indicated that the approval of the CB for the withdrawal of money from banks and financial institutions is not necessary.
