House Fin Committee on CYTA advertisements

12/01/2009 11:02
The House Finance Committee requested new data on the advertising expenses for the promotion of CYTA’s new corporate identity.

The supplementary budget 2008 of €3 million, €1.4 million of which concerns the promotion campaign of the new corporate identity, was examined by the Committee today. The members requested the criteria and means that the amounts were disposed to ascertain whether everything was settled neatly.

According to CYTA Board member, Grigoris Diakos, the management of the advertising packages was undertaken by three advertising companies. Mr. Diakos supported that the change of the corporate identity was deemed necessary after a market research that showed that CYTA trade name is more popular to consumers than the Greek ATHK.

However, DISY MP, Lefteris Christoforou was not convinced for the need to change ΑTHK’s name to CYTA and wondered why this was deemed necessary in this difficult period of time.

The total sum for advertising purposes in 2008 – including the additional €3 million, stands at €10 million, Mr. Diakos said.

The Committee will express its view on the supplementary budget next Monday.
