Authorities announce one new coronavirus case on Sunday

Cyprus authorities announced on Sunday a new confirmed SARS-CoV-2 case after conducting 1,445 lab tests. The total number of cases now stands at 1,003.

The person who tested positive was going to be taken to a reception centre for migrants. The case was detected out of 216 samples tested after referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres. All protocols were activated and the individual has already been admitted into Eden Resort Wellness Rehabilitation Centre in Tersefanou.

According to the press release issued by the Health Ministry, no individuals tested positive out of 226 lab tests carried out in the framework of the programme for checking 10,000 employees who went back to work during phase B and C of easing restrictive measures, eight tests completed as part of the contact tracing programme, 92 samples tested at the private initiative, 699 tests carried out for passengers and repatriates, 184 lab tests completed by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals and 20 samples tested in the framework of the Justice and Public Order Ministry`s programme for testing people working at the Courts.

One COVID-19 patient is still being treated at Famagusta General Hospital, which is the COVID-19 Reference Hospital.
