Authorities announce one new Covid-19 case

Cyprus authorities announced on Wednesday one new case of Covid-19 infection after conducting a total of 1,204 tests.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiological Surveillance Unit said that the new confirmed case was diagnosed after 36 samples taken as part of contact tracing programme, adding that the person had a travel history.

After the new confirmed case the total infections in Cyprus amount to 999, while one person is hospitalised in the Famagusta General Hospital, designated as reference hospital for Covid-19.

Furthermore, no cases were diagnosed in 78 samples taken in the framework of checking 10,000 employees who went back to work during phase B and C of the relaxation of restrictive measures, zero cases where found via the checking of 437 passengers and repatriates, no cases in 205 tests carried out by the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals island-wide.

Moreover, no positive cases were diagnosed in 196 tests were carried out after private initiative and 252 tests as part of referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres.
