Authorities announced 1 death and 57 new COVID cases

Cyprus Health Ministry on Monday announced the death of one person and 57 new COVID cases bringing total of deaths to 374 and total cases since the pandemic broke out to 73,247.

Moreover 30 patients are in hospitals 11 of whom in serious condition.

The new cases were detected from a total of 39,852 tests (rapid and PCR) and the positivity rate stands at 0,14%.

The deceased is a male, 68 years old who passed away at the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital. From the 374 deaths the 251 are male (67%) and 123 female (33%) and the median age is 77 years.

From the 11 patients in serious condition the 8 are intubated and 3 are in an ACU.

From the 39,852 tests carried out, the 5,948 were done via PCR method and  33,904 were rapid tests and the new cases were detected as follows: 4 from 54 samples in the framework of contact tracing, 10 from 3,768 tests done at airports, 10 from 1,999 tests done on private initiative, 1 from 127 samples taken at the Microbiology Labs of General Hospitals and 32 from 33,332 rapid tests in the framework of mass testing of the population. No positive case was detected among 572 rapid tests done at private labs and pharmacies.

The positivity rate from the rapid tests stands at 0.13% in Nicosia from 10,552 tests, at 0.17% in Limassol from  7,204 tests, at 0.02% in Larnaka from 4,191 tests, at 0.10% in Paphos from 3,103 tests and at  0.07% in Famagusta from 2,679 tests.
