Authorities announced 13 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday

Cyprus authorities announced thirteen new COVID-19 cases on Sunday out of 3,177 tests, bringing the number of total cases so far to 1,824.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Health, two people tested positive out of 202 samples tested in the context of contact tracing of already confirmed cases. Another two people tested positive out of 1,226 tests conducted on passengers and people repatriating to Cyprus. One person tested positive out of 228 samples from the Microbiology Labs of the General Hospitals.

Another six people tested positive out of 781 samples tested by private initiative. Two persons tested positive out of 224 samples tested following referrals from GPs and in the context of screening of special groups through public health centres.

At the same time, no one tested positive out of 337 tests in the context of random testing by the Cyprus Football Association, 25 tests in migrant accommodation centres and out of 154 tests on students, teachers and other school staff.

"Therefore on the basis of data so far, the total number of cases has reached 1,824," the press release says.

Eight people with SARS-CoV-2 are treated at Famagusta General Hospital, three of who in the increased care unit. Two people are intubated and  treated at Nicosia General Hospital ICU. One more patient with COVID-19 is treated at another hospital.
