Authorities announced 162 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday

Cypriot health authorities announced 162 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday bringing the total number of cases since the outbreak of the pandemic to 123,708, while no deaths have been reported with total fatalities remaining at 570.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Health says that the daily positivity rate stood at 0.31%.

Total deaths remained at 570 of whom 363 or 64% men and 207 or 36% women with median age of 76.1 years.

According to the Ministry, 57 patients receive treatment in public hospitals, of whom 18 are being treated in serious condition in ACUs and ICUs. Of the 18 patients in serious condition, 6 are intubated in ICUs, four in ICU without a ventilator and 8 patients are in ACUs.

Data show that 63.16% of the patients have no vaccination history, while 3 post-covid patients who are no longer infectious are intubated in serious condition in ICUs.

The 162 new COVID cases were traced following 51,892 tests, of which 4,228 were PCR tests and 47,664 rapid antigen tests.

A total of 27 new cases were detected after 319 samples taken in the context of contact tracing, 9 new cases emerged following 1,940 samples taken at the airports, 26 new cases were traced following 1,634 test done privately, 4 new infections emerged after 203 tests carried out in the General Hospitals Microbiological Labs, 58 cases were traced after 27,624 rapid tests carried out in private labs and pharmacies and 38 new cases were detected following 20,040 tests carried out in the context of the Ministry of Health rapid test programme.
