Authorities announced 199 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday

Cyprus Health Ministry on Thursday announced 199 new COVID-19 cases. No death was reported and the positivity rate stands at 0,70%. Moreover, it was announced that 82 patients are receiving treatment in state hospitals and 19 are in serious condition. Ten of them are intubated, 3 are in an ICU and 6 in an ACU.

The 199 new cases were detected from a total of 28,461 tests (PCR and rapid). The total cases in the Republic of Cyprus since the pandemic broke out are 33,909.

The cases were diagnosed as follows: 64 from 429 samples taken in the framework of contact tracing, 27 from 940 tests done at a private initiative, 6 from 413 tests done at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals, 2 from 160 samples of rapid tests done at private labs and 100 from 25,997 rapid tests done by the Health Ministry in the framework of population testing.

No positive cases were detected from 291 tests done at airports, from 88 tests done at people on the 7th day of their quarantine having arrived from the UK , from 140 tests carried out on GPs referrals or via public clinics` testing, from 3 samples taken from athletes of basketball and volleyball.

Limassol district has a positivity rate of 0,83% from a total of 7,487 tests.
