Authorities announced 252 Covid cases on Thursday

Cyprus Health Ministry on Thursday announced 252 new COVID-19 cases and 73 hospitalisations. No deaths were reported and the total number remains at 575. Of the patients in hospitals 27 are in serious condition and figures show that 67.13% of the people receiving treatment in hospitals, are unvaccinated.

One post-COVID patient who is no longer infectious is intubated in an ICU. A total of 55,507 tests were done and the positivity rate stands at 0,45%. Total cases are at 125,413.

Of the 575 deaths, 367 are male  (64%), and  208 female  (36%) and the median age is 76.1 years.

Of the 27 patients in serious condition six are intubated, 3 are in an ICU and 18 in ACUs.

Today 4,062 tests were PCR and 51,445 were rapid and the cases were detected as follows: 49 from 500 samples taken in the framework of contact tracing, 8 from 1,825 tests done at airports, 36 from 1,417 tests done on private initiative, 4  from 201 samples at Microbiological labs in General Hospitals, 103 from 30,131 rapid tests done at private labs and pharmacies, 52 from 21,314 rapid tests done in the framework of the testing by the Ministry of Health. No cases were detected from 119 samples taken following referrals from GPs or at public clinics.

From the rapid tests done by the Ministry, 6 cases were detected in primary schools, 15 in high schools, 2 in closed units and 1 in special schools.
