Authorities announced 283 new coronavirus cases on Sunday

A total of 283 new coronavirus cases were announced on Sunday in Cyprus, out of 45,231 tests.

The Ministry of Health announced that the positivity rate stands at 0,63%. The total number of citizens infected stands at 34,707.

Meanwhile, 88 patients receive treatment in state hospitals, 24 of whom in a serious condition.

No deaths were recorded on Sunday. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 231 people lost their lives to COVID19, 154 men, (67%), and 77 women  (33%) with 79 being their median age.

Out of the 24 patients who are in a critical condition, 13 are intubated.

In the Famagusta General Hospital 24 patients receive treatment, 22 more are in the Nicosia General Hospital, 41 are in the Limassol General Hospital and one in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

Out of the 45,231 laboratory tests, 1,575  were carried out with the PCR method and  43,656 with the antigen rapid method. The 283 new cases were found as follows: 104 from contact tracing of primary contacts, 12 from tests done after private initiative, 6 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals and 161 from antigen rapid tests done through the Ministry of Health programme.

No cases were found after 110 samples taken from contact tracing of secondary contacts, from 194 samples after referrals from GP and 57 rapid tests in private labs.
