Authorities announced 323 new coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that 323 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 0,97%, thus bringing the total number of people infected to 35,620.

Meanwhile, 89 patients are being treated in hospitals, 22 of whom in a serious condition.

The Ministry said that no deaths were reported on Wednesday. The total number of deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic reaches 232, 155 men (67%) and 77 women (33%) with 79 being their median age.

Out of the 22 patients who are in a critical condition, 9 are intubated. In the Famagusta General Hospital there are currently 30 patients receiving treatment, 23 are in the Nicosia General Hospital, 35 in the Limassol General Hospital and 1 person is being treated in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

A total of 33,194 laboratory tests were done in the last 24 hours, both with the PCR method (2,929) and the antigen rapid method (30,265) and 323 new cases were detected as follows: 95 through contact tracing of primary contacts, 27 on private initiative, 1 on GPs referral, 10 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 6 more were found with the antigen rapid test method in private laboratories, and 184 from the antigen rapid testings done in the framework f the Ministry of Health programme. No cases were found after 295 samples taken at the airports.
