Authorities announced 384 new coronavirus cases

Cyprus reported on Thursday 384 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number since the outbreak of the pandemic to 36,004. The positivity rate stands at 0,96%.

The Ministry of Health announced that 101 patients are receiving treatment in state hospitals, 22 of whom in a serious condition.

No deaths were recorded on Thursday, thus their number remains at 232, 155 men  (67%), and 77 women (33%) with their median age being 79.

Twelve patients out of the 22 who are in a serious condition are intubated. In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 39 patients, in the Nicosia General Hospital 24, while 37 people are receiving treatment in the Limassol General Hospital and one in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

Out of the 39,807 laboratory tests done in the last 24 hours, 2,830 were carried out with the PCR method and 36,977 with the antigen rapid test method. The 384 new cases were diagnosed as follows: 73 cases were found after contact tracing of primary contacts, 4 after samples taken at airports, 42 after testing upon private initiative, 9 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 2 from tests done in refugee camps, 5 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories and 249 were detected with the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health`s programme. No cases were found after 122 samples taken after GP referrals.
