Authorities announced 4 deaths and 158 new COVID-19 cases

Cyprus Health Ministry on Thursday announced 4 deaths and 158 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total on the island to 30,538.

The total deaths are 197 and 153 patients are getting treatment in hospitals island wide, 51 in serious condition.

Today`s results were detected from a total of 13,594  tests (PCR and Rapid) . The positivity rate is 1,16%.

The deceased are a male , 55 year old, with underlying condition who passed away in Nicosia General Hospital, a male 88 yeas old with underlying conditions who died at the Famagusta Reference Hospital, a 75 year old female without any morbidity, according to the Death Certificate who passed away at the ICU of Nicosia General Hospital and a 73 year old female without any morbidity, according to the Death Certificate who also passed away at the ICU of Nicosia General Hospital.

From the 197 deaths, 132 referred to males (67%) and 65 females (33%) with a median age of 80 years.

The Health Ministry said that 153 patients are hospitalized and 51 are in serious condition of whom  28 are intubated, 8 are in an ICU and 15 in an ACU.

Today`s cases were detected as follows:

38 cases were detected from 335 samples in the framework of contact tracing process, 17 from 765 tests done on private initiative, 7 from 271 samples at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals, 96 from 11,929 rapid tests.

No cases were detected from 146 tests done at airports, from 122 samples from GP referrals and tests done at public clinics and from 26 tests done at migrants` centers.
