Authorities announced 470 new COVID cases on Sunday

Cyprus Health Ministry on Sunday  announced 440 new COVID cases with the positivity rate to stand at 0,85%. No deaths were announced today and the total number of fatalities remains at  272 of whom 179 male (66%) and 93 female (34%). The median age is 79 years.

According to the Ministry 225 patients are getting treatment in hospitals of whom 57 are in serious condition.

A total of 55,096 tests were carried out ( rapid and PCR). The total number of cases on the island stands at 51,505.

From the 57 patients in serious condition, 31 are intubated, 2 are in the ICU and 24 in ACU.

From the 55,096 tests 2,546 were PCR and  52,550 rapid and the cases were detected as follows:

94 from 778 samples from contact tracing, 80 from 1,404 tests done on private initiative, 14 from 140 samples taken at the Microbiological labs of General Hospitals island wide, 1 case from 224 samples taken from GP referrlas and testing at public clinics,

2 from 71 rapid tests done at private labs and pharmacies and 279 cases from mass rapid testing of the population.
