Authorities announced fifteen new COVID-19 cases

Cyprus' Ministry of Health announced fifteen new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, out of a total 2,709 lab tests. As a result, the number of confirmed cases is now 1,618.

Ten cases were detected out of 857 tests at the private initiative. Nine of them are from the cluster of Nea Salamina football club and another person who tested positive was an employee of Ocean Basket restaurant in Larnaka, Finikoudes.

Out of 153 samples tested by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals, one case was detected.

Out of 941 tests in passengers and people who have been repatriated, two cases were detected.

After conducting 165 tests of samples taken in the framework of tracing the contacts of already confirmed cases, two cases were detected.

Moreover no cases were traced after carrying out of 83 tests in the framework of the programme for checking 5,000 people of 18-40 years old, out of 243 tests conducted after referral by a Personal Doctor, out of 266 samples taken in the framework of the programme for checking students, teachers and staff in schools, and after carrying out 1 test in the framework of the Justice and Public Ministry`s programme for people who work at the Courts.

According to the press release, nine patients with COVID-19 are treated at the Famagusta hospital, one of them at the Intensive Care Unit.
