Cyprus reported on Tuesday one death and 60 new COVID-19 cases while the Ministry of Health announced that 45 patients are getting treatment in hospitals. The total number of deaths stand at 365 and the total cases since the pandemic broke out at 72,919. From the 45 citizens in hospitals, the 19 are in serious condition.
Today`s cases were detected from a total of 38,435 tests (rapid and PCR) and the positivity rate stands at 0,16%.
The deceased is a male 66 years old who passed away at the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital. From the 365 deaths, 243 are male (67%) and 122 female (33%) and the median age is 78 years.
From the 19 people in serious condition in hospitals, 9 are intubated, 2 are in an ICU and 8 in ACU.
From the 38,435 tests the 5,029 were done with the PCR method and 33,406 were rapid and the new cases were detected as follows:
Twelve (12) from 130 tests done in the framework of contact tracing, 4 from 2,437 tests done at airports, 14 from 1,854 tests done on private initiative, 3 from 245 tests done at Microbiological labs of General Hospitals, 2 from 422 rapid tests done at private labs and pharmacies and 25 cases from 32,984 rapid tests done in the framework of mass testing of population. No cases were detected from 360 samples taken on GP referrals or testing at public clinics and from 3 tests done among residents of Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias.
Τhe positivity rate from rapid tests stands at 0,04 % in Nicosia out of 10,296 tests, at 0,28% in Limassol out of 6,063 tests, at 0,03 % in Larnaka out of 2,898 tests , while no case was detected in Paphos in a total of 3,1153 tests and no case in Famagusta out of 1,919 tests.
