Authorities announced one death from COVID and 365 new cases

Cyprus Health Ministry on Tuesday announced the death of a patient from COVID and 365 new cases. The positivity rate stands at 0.99% and 222 people are getting treatment in state hospitals, 28 of whom are in the ICU.

The deceased is a 90 year old male who passed away at the Limassol General Hospital. He had underlying conditions and according to the Ministry, he did not get the COVID vaccine.

The total number of deaths is 246, 163 are male  (66%), and  83 female  (34%) and the median age is 79 years.

Today`s case were detected from a total of 36,702 tests (rapid and PCR). The total number of cases in the Republic is  42,993.

The new cases were diagnosed as follows:

125 from 735 tests in the framework of contact tracing, 3 from 500 tests done at airports, 86 from 1,777 samples taken on private initiative,13 from 464 tests done at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals island wide, 14 from 846 rapid tests done at private labs and chemists and 124 from 32,323 rapid tests done in the framework of mass testing of population and employees.

No case was detected from 57 samples from GP referrals and from tests done at public clinics.

Τhe Rapid test results indicate a positivity rate of 0.31% in Nicosia (33 cases out of 10,590 tests), 0.77% in Limassol (61 cases out of 7,927 tests), 0.37% in Larnaka (4,633 tests and 17 positive), 0.34% in Paphos (9 out of 2,649 tests) and 0.19% in Famagusta (3 out of 1,559 tests). One case was detected from testing in school units. 3,207 tests were done in schools and 302 in special schools.
