Authorities announced three deaths, 602 new cases of COVID 19

Three patients lost their lives to COVID-19 on Wednesday, while 602 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed with the positivity rate being 1.20%.

Meanwhile, 232 people are receiving treatment in state hospitals, 63 of whom in a serious condition.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 53,254 people have been diagnosed with the virus.
 
The three deceased were two men 85 and 80 years old both with underlying conditions and no vaccination history, and a 87 year old woman with underlying conditions who was also not vaccinated.

The number of people who died of COVID19 stands at 277, of whom 183 are men (66%), and 94 women (34%). Their median age is 78.

Out of the 63 people who are in a critical condition, 32 are intubated. In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 74 patients, in the Nicosia General Hospital 71, in the Limassol General Hospital 48 people are being treated, 14 are in the Larnaka General Hospital, 20 in the Pafos General Hospital and 5 in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

A total of 50,287 tests were carried out on Wednesday of which 4,163 with the PCR method and 46,124 with the antigen rapid test method. The 602 new cases were found as follows: 120 through contact tracing, 149 from tests done on private initiative, 20 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 3 from samples taken after GP referrals, 19 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories and pharmacies and 291 cases from antigen rapid tests.
 Meanwhile, no cases were found after 437 samples taken at airports.
