Authorities announced three deaths, 845 new coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday the death of three more people from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 306.

Meanwhile, 285 patients are being treated in state hospitals, 75 of whom in a serious condition. Their median age is 58,6.

In addition, 845 new coronavirus cases (positivity rate 2.07%) were diagnosed. The total number of cases since the outbreak of the pandemic is 64,565.

The three deceased were a 78 year old woman with no vaccination history, a 62 year old man with no vaccination history and a 88 year old woman who had received the first dose of a COVID vaccine. The recorded deaths are 200 men (65%), and 106 women  (35%) with 78 being their median age.

Out of the 75 patients who are in a critical condition, 36 are intubated.

In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 66 patients, in Nicosia 83, in Limassol 69, in Larnaka 43, in Pafos 21 and in Makario Hospital in Nicosia 3.

Out of the 40,811 tests,  6,065 were carried out by PCR method and  34,746 by antigen rapid test method.

The new coronavirus cases were detected as follows: 113 from contact tracing, 2 from samples taken at airports, 201 from tests done privately, 16 from samples in the Microbiology Laboratories in the General Hospitals, 25 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories and pharmacies and 488 from antigen rapid tests. No cases were found from 35 samples tested following GP referrals.
