Cyprus authorities announced on Wednesday three more confirmed coronavirus cases out of 1,691 tests completed, with the total number of cases reaching 1,008.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, a person was tested positive for COVID-19 out of 279 samples taken in the framework of a testing program for 10,000 employees who returned to work under phase two and three of the lifting of the restrictive measures. One more case was detected among 311 samples taken from private initiative. The third case was detected after testing 653 samples from people who were repatriated or from passengers.

All relevant health protocols have been activated in relation to the three cases and contact-tracing has already begun, the announcement says.
