Cyprus' Council of Ministers approved on Monday a proposal, put forward by Health Minister, Michalis Hadjipantelas, for the administration of a booster dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 to people who are 18 years old and over, as long as six months have passed since they have completed their vaccination scheme.

A press release issued by the Health Ministry said that more details about the exact date that vaccinations will begin and the way that the vaccination process for the booster dose will take place will be announced during the next days.

The press release noted that the Council of Minister approved Hadjipantelas` proposal regarding the administration of the booster dose against COVID-19 to people who are 18 years old and over, as long as six months have passed since they have completed their vaccination scheme (since the administration of the 2nd dose of Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines or the administration of the Johnson&Johnson single-dose vaccine).

The Cabinet`s decision was taken after a suggestion made by the Health Minister on behalf of the National Vaccination Advisory Committee, which during a recent meeting proposed, by majority, to initiate the process of vaccinations of the adult population with the booster dose, the press release said.
