Cyprus records one COVID death and 113 new cases on Monday

Cyprus Health Ministry on Monday announced the death of a patient from COVID-19, 113 new cases and 86 hospitalizations.

The total number of deaths on the island is 222 and the total number of cases reached 32,626. Moreover, the Ministry announced that 86 people are in hospitals island-wide and 25 of them are in serious condition.

Today`s cases were detected from a total of 35,164 tests (PCR and rapid tests) and the positivity rate is 0,32%.

The deceased is an 86 year old female with underlying conditions who passed away at the Nicosia General Hospital. From the 222 deaths, 149 are male  (67%), and 73 female (33%) and the median age is 79 years.

From the 25 people in state hospitals, 10 are intubated, 10 are in an ICU and 5 in ACU.

The new cases were detected as follows:

Thirty four from 311 tests done in the framework of contact tracing, 2 out of 803 samples at airports, 8 out of 470 tests done on private initiative, 3 out of 263 tests done at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals, 2 out of 526 rapid tests done at private labs, 64 out of 32,572 rapid tests done in the framework of mass population testing.

No positive cases were detected from 219 tests done from GP referrals and public clinic testing.
