Cyprus reports 1 death from COVID-19 and 80 new cases

Cyprus Health Ministry announced 1 death from COVID and 80 new cases on Monday. Moreover it announced that 47 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition.

The total cases since the pandemic broke out stand at 72,859 and the total number of deaths at 364.

The cases on Monday were detected from a total of 46,611 tests, (PCR and rapid) and the positivity rate stands at 0,17%.

The deceased is a male, 70 years old who passed away at the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital. From the 364 deaths, 242 are male  (66%) and 122 female (34%) and their media age is  78 years.

Of the 18 patients in serious conditions, the 11 are intubated, 1 is in the ICU and 6 in ACU.

From the  46,611 tests, 7,271 were done via PCR method and 39,340 were antigen rapid tests and the cases were detected as follows:

11 from 167 tests done in the framework of contact tracing ,5 from 4,000 tests done at airports, 21 from 2,442 tests done on private initiative, 4 from 357 samples at the Microbiological labs of General Hospitals , 8 from 1,532 rapid tests done at private labs or pharmacies and 31 from 37,808 tests done in the framework of the mass testing of the population.

No case was detected among 304 tests done following GP referrals or testing at public clinics and 1 test done at a resident of Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias village.

Τhe positivity rate from rapid tests stands at 0,12% in Nicosia out of 12,145 tests, at  0,12% in Limassol out of 8,064 tests, at 0,04% in Larnaka out of 4,672 tests , while no case was detected in Paphos in a total of 3,456  tests and at 0,04% in Famagusta out of 2,372 tests.
